The annual Catawba Valley British Motor Club Christmas Party was held December 9th 2015. Over 60 members gathered at the Crowne Plaza in Hickory, NC to celebrate Christmas and to participate in the traditional auction benefiting our chosen charity Safe Harbor Rescue Mission. This is the third consecutive year that we have supported this organization. There were as usual, a variety of interesting items in the silent auction. Jerry Sicard, fresh from quadruple bypass surgery had completed another wood carving. This time a two figure diorama for which tickets were sold in a separate drawing.
The party, though held on our normal meeting date, is a social gathering and no formal business is conducted. President Bobby Cox made a few informal remarks and we paused to remember two long time members that we lost during the year: Elaine Blodgett and Wayne Starnes.
When the auction results were tallied we were able to contribute $1,000.00 to Safe Harbor Rescue Mission. We know they will put it to good use.
